Syllabus and Resources
The Honors 2290 syllabus includes both a description of the course and a schedule of activities (e.g., discussion of readings, major writing assignments). The group met once per week in a discussion classroom and once per week in a computer lab, where students used the internet for research, tried out various software programs, and presented the results of their research to each other and to visiting audiences. Besides our twice-weekly in-person meetings, online discussion connections for class members were available all the time through a WebCT site created for the course. Partly because the schedule allowed students substantial time to work in the lab, they were able to generate a useful set of online resourcesa pdf document (Acrobat Reader needed for viewing) related to the seminar's content. Major projects and assignments for the course sought to integrate material from our humanities theme with student-centered inquiry activities.
